Community Driven Development (CDD) Specialist

Richard has over 25 years’ experience in governance and community development in conflict and post conflict environments with extensive knowledge of government structures and processes. He has worked in Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Philippines, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Bangladesh, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Zimbabwe and Sudan. He speaks English as his mother tongue and is fluent in Bahasa Indonesia. Richard has a well-developed and practical understanding of governance issues at all levels, from communities to national government, resulting from work with international NGOs and bilateral and multilateral agencies.  His skills include results-based management, public administration, negotiating with government, participatory planning, facilitating training, developing and implementing budgets, monitoring and evaluation, organizing workshops, seminars and conferences, report writing, along with excellent inter-personal skills and ability to quickly adapt to new and changing circumstances. Richard holds a Bachelor of Law and History degree and an RSA diploma in TEFL (English as a Foreign Language Teaching Certificate).
